When I read articles or online posts about people doing a horrible job raising their children, I can’t help but think we’re really circling the drain. This great country is being overrun with uninformed, misinformed, stupid people who are breeding at an alarming rate. Worse yet, many of them have no problem displaying their inadequacies to properly care for and raise their children on social media outlets.
A mother faces jail time for allegedly uploading a nude photo of her 14-year old daughter onto the daughter’s Facebook page as a form of punishment for having the photo on her iPhone in the first place. She’s charged with child exploitation and possession of child pornography. Yes, the girl was stupid for taking a picture of herself but what is her mother’s excuse?
Back in November on Black Friday, a guy in Massachusetts left his girlfriend’s 2-year old son in a car while he went shopping for a 51-inch television and left the toddler behind. Thankfully, the police found the child asleep in the car around 1:30 a.m.
A 33-year old mother, arrested on child endangerment charges, hired two strippers to perform at her son’s 16th birthday party. I wouldn’t be surprised if the mother posted the photos from the party on social networking sites which prompted the investigation.
A 40-year old was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment in Oswego, NY, when a video surfaced on Facebook (where else?) showing her encouraging a girl to beat up another girl. The article didn’t say if either of the girls was related to this brainless human being but I’m guessing she has her own children. Anyone who behaves in this fashion (and I saw the video) shouldn’t be allowed to raise weeds.
And while I’m on the subject of weed, a mother in Connecticut was being investigated after her 4-year old brought nine bags of marijuana to school and offered it to his friends during snack time. The last time I looked, the people in Connecticut weren’t as stupid as they are here in my state of Washington by legalizing the stuff.
Even if this didn’t happen in the U.S., it’s worth mentioning. A mother in Cuba, allegedly tattooed her 3-year old’s arm. A Dominican news site claimed the video originated on Facebook, and the people involved were followers of the “Growing in Grace International Ministry.” The child is allegedly being branded with the mark of the cult: 666.
I know there are millions of really good parents out there. My nieces and nephew and their spouses are examples of great parents. But it seems the mutants are outnumbering the good ones. On the other hand, having practiced in the dependency field for over 20 years, CPS isn’t the answer to bad parenting. Taking children away from dumb and neglectful people means having to find good foster homes; not an easy task. I remember one judge saying to a parent in court, “you learn how to parent from your parents.” I understand that. It’s generational. But, if I were Empress of the world, you’d have to have a license to breed.
And the award for the worst parent goes to….it’s up for grabs.
I don’t get it, but if you do, God bless you.
