If you listen carefully, you’ll hear your taxes being flushed down the toilet back in Washington, D.C.  Day after day, week after week, year after year, the politicians in Washington, including our President, just can’t figure out we’re going bankrupt. They’re spending junkies.

The General Accountability Office last month issued a report confirming that tens of billions of dollars are wasted each year by the government, much of which is the result of duplicative programs.

For example, there are 17 disaster response programs; 18 food assistance programs; 20 homelessness prevention programs; 47 job training programs; 82 teacher quality assessment programs; 88 economic development programs; and more than 100 surface transportation programs.

Programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program allow federal funds to purchase potato chips, yet dozens of other government programs are aimed at keeping Americans healthy, even suggesting food like potato chips should be taken out of public schools.

We’ll see if the politicians will listen to the GAO, or even read its findings.  I’m not going to hold my breath.
