Members of Congress aren’t the only ones that can’t balance a budget.   No matter what level of government, money just burns holes in the pockets of public officials.  They just can’t help themselves.

Case in point.  Andrea Merida, one of seven on Denver’s School Board.  As a member, she’s charged with overseeing a budget of hundreds of millions of dollars but can’t seem to control  her own expense account.   She spent $8,159 over the allotted $5,000 limit!   Although she initially said she wouldn’t repay the money because “this is the cost of community engagement,” she said she’d reimburse the district for some of charges once it was determined if any of the monies would be  reimbursed by other board accounts.

Just another public official showing an amazing lack of personal responsibility with public money.
