Federal agencies spend nearly $1.3 billion a year on printing costs of which $440.4 million is spent unnecessarily.  The Department of Defense, alone, has printing costs of $1.4 billion annually, of which $490 million is unnecessary.   I can’t even begin to imagine the number of copies that were made of the 2,000+ page Obamacare legislation.  Where are the environmentalists screaming to “save the trees” when you need them?

During the SOTU address, President Obama spoke about combining some of the government agencies which are redundant.  Reducing the size of government and eliminating unnecessary agencies and bureaucracies – what a novel idea!  But, in the meantime, how about shutting off the damn lights when you leave your office?  The Department of Energy’s electric bill is $190 million a year and $2.2 million of it can be saved by turning off the lights and using more efficient technology.
