In July of 2008, then candidate, Barack Obama, was singing a whole different tune. On January 20, 2009, the day President Obama took office, the national debt was $10.6 trillion. Today, it’s $16.7 trillion. On this day, in 2017, it’s projected to be $22.2 trillion.
